Artists, Cartoonists, Photographers, Writers
We want the issue of overpopulation to be interesting to everyone. Nowadays dry words and statistics are not enough. We can use photos, cartoons, drawings and pictures, and text that grabs. There are plenty of material on the WOA web pages that needs artistic enrichment.

Cartoonists
The above is an animated gif. It is a series of pictures that are shown in succession. What fun! We borrowed it from the Sierra Club, so we didn't feel we could put it on a regular page. But someone could create one for WOA!! Just draw the series of pictures, send them, and we will scan them into a gif file and make them into the animated gif. These should be quite small. Maybe the size of the gif shown and up to about twice that size. But let's use our own cartoon ideas. One is the cat had seven kittens who in turn each had seven kittens population explosion, which my daughter is working on. The other I have sketched out and will put on this page when I get it scanned. Of course, feel free to come up with your own ideas.
And then there are regular cartoons. Anything depicting overpopulation or the effects of overpopulation.

Cartoon Ideas:

This would be an animated gif. The trees and animals would change one-by-one to houses, cars, factories, people.

Artists
Laotian We can use some more "people of many lands" such as the one on the right. Our theme is that everyone is responsible for family size. I would like to depict people that have dignity and look like they are responsible and capable of making the decision to limit their family. They should look somewhat confident and knowledgeable (but not particularly well-educated and certainly not wealthy). They should not be dressed 'in costume', but wearing clothing that they own and might wear for a everyday wear or maybe for a special occasion (a wedding would be too special).
Other picture ideas: African mothers with 2-6 rail-thin children; pregnant teenagers with 1-3 children; the contrast between educated mothers (or families) with 1-2 children and uneducated mothers (or families) with 3-5 children. Pictures should be fairly small - about the size of postcard (they will be reduced even more).
We might also use poster designs if we ever decide to go into the merchandising business.

Photographers
Some of the picture ideas under "artists" above will be the same for photography. Also crowd scenes or other overpopulation ideas.

Writers
If you see text that is not in quotes, then probably I wrote it and was in a hurry doing it. Feel free to suggest rewording. If you would like to write an article, research it, back it up with reliable sources, craft it, and send it to me. You may find material in the Internet or in the library. Try to avoid the second and third hand quotes of facts and statistics. Don't forget to footnote it with your sources.
How about bumper sticker mottos?

If you do have a picture or drawing in jpg or gif format that we might want to use that is small (thumbnail) an email attachment might work - don't worry about HTML, just send the picture as an email attachment. If it is larger, please email me for arrangements to mail a diskette or FTP directions. Copyright materials cannot be used without the permission of the owner. If it is from a printed publication or another web page, assume it is copyrighted.
